Biographical Information

From the Ancient Past to the 21^st Century

James Paradise has an artistic style that is based on inner visions of landscapes and images of the future, as well as memories of the ancient past. His medium includes acrylics, watercolors, pencil and charcoals. James paints and draws on traditional canvas and papers, yet often chooses a variety of surfaces including rocks with visually receptive shapes, common concrete pieces and other everyday recycled objects. His tools are pallet knifes sponges, a variety of hand made and recycled tools, as well as traditional brushes. James attempts to create art using as few brush strokes as possible. His art is both Primitive and Futuristic, using abstract and introspective images.

James was born in Chicago Ill in 1949. At the age of five, his family moved to Spokane Washington. James first painted in 1973. He produced several pieces for his family and friends and then turned his attention to business. At the turn of the twenty-first century, James returned to his artistic talents, and has produced over 125 unique pieces during the first year of the 21^st Century.
